Early Funds go to Families in Need in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Some 18 families around East Sarajevo received €3,000 of support from the Njegoš Foundation.

The funds were delivered by Davor Tensek, one of the members of the foundation. He visited Sokolac, a municipality of East Sarajevo, where he met with a team of local people who helped.   They included Snjezana Basevic, Director of the city's Centre for Voluntary Work as well as co workers Jelena Krestalica, Mladen Delic and Drazenko Vukojicic and Drazenko Vukojicic of the Red Cross of Sokolac and Mihajlo Debelnogic.

The team identified the most deserving families for whom life is hardest. All had three or more children but top of the list is a family with 11 children.

The Njegoš Foundation organises the glittering St Sava’s Ball which is held in London every year.  This year the charity raised £21,500 with the patronage of the Hilandar Monastery.  Acclaimed folk singer Ana Bekuta delighted guests with her performance.

This year some 43 mothers from Kosovo and Metohija will also be supported by the foundation.  Each have received the prestigious Order of the Majka Jugović and each have four or more children.

However as Tensek explained the foundation had to overcome logistical burdens simply to transfer the funds into these territories.  He spoke of plans to invite younger people to learn more about the mission of the Njegoš Foundation in a literary evening.
