From our patron, the Hilandar Monastery
We were delighted to welcome a full house of guests at St Sava's Ball on Saturday 8th February 2005.
As in the past two years, our patron was the Hilandar Monastery who has been a strong supporter of this glittering charity gala.
On behalf of the "Petar II Petrović Njegoš" Foundation, Dr. Dejan Maraš told guests how last year's proceeds supported families and children in Kosovo and Metohija, in Sokolac in Sarajevo, as well as in Montenegro.
The gathering was blessed by His Eminence, Bishop of London and Great Britain and Ireland, Nektarije, who gave this fitting address:
“It is a great honor and joy for me to be here with you today, in the spirit of tradition, unity and respect for Saint Sava, the greatest of our Serbian race. He taught us through the example of his life that faith, wisdom and love for one’s Church and nation can lead to great successes. Here we are, today, in the heart of London, honouring that same spirit of Saint Sava with our gathering. I wish everyone an enjoyable evening and that we should continue to gather together, in health and joy, for many years to come.”
Photographs from Hilandar, the work of monastic Milutin, were on display while "Noas" silk scarves, whose designs were inspired by the sacred space of the Hilandar Cathedral Church of the Presentation of the Most Holy Theotokos, were auctioned for charity. Wines from the monastery were served to guests.
